A compact dual frequency stacked patch antenna has been designed for the IRNSS applications in the L and S bands with an operating frequency of 1.176GHz and 2.492GHz. The patch has been truncated at the diagonal corners to get the necessary frequency of operation. Two layers of Rogers TMM 10i are taken as substrate material which are having a thickness of 3.81mm and a 50Ω coaxial cable has been used to excite the antenna. Stacked patch technique has been implemented to attain the dual frequency of operation. Proposed antenna have two radiators of which each one is responsible for one frequency of operation. The overall dimension of the antenna is 80mm×80mm×7.62mm which is 0.31λ×0.31λ making the proposed antenna a compact one. The Proposed antenna is having dual frequency of operation at the frequencies of 1.176GHz and 2.492GHz with a gain of 2.19dB and 5.26dB respectively. Commercially available 3D simulator Ansys HFSS software has been used to design the proposed
