The National Journal of Antennas and Propagation (NJAP) is committed to publishing rigorous, original, and ethically sound research in the fields of antenna design, wave propagation, and related domains. In light of the increasing use of Generative AI and AI-assisted technologies, NJAP has adopted the following policy to ensure transparency, accountability, and scholarly integrity.
For Authors
-
Permissible Use:
Authors may use generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Grammarly) strictly for enhancing the grammar, spelling, and clarity of language in their manuscripts. The scientific content—including theory, methodology, simulations, and conclusions—must be developed by the authors. -
Disclosure Requirement:
If AI tools are used in the preparation of the manuscript, the authors must clearly disclose this in a dedicated section titled "AI Use Disclosure", placed before the References.Example Statement:
“The authors used ChatGPT (OpenAI) to assist in improving the language clarity of the manuscript. All technical content, derivations, and interpretations are the sole responsibility of the authors.”
-
Prohibited Use:
-
AI tools must not be used to generate technical content, simulate radiation patterns, design antenna structures, or analyze results.
-
AI must not be credited as an author or co-author.
-
AI-generated or AI-enhanced figures, graphs, or simulation outputs are not allowed, unless the tool itself is part of the proposed methodology and described in detail in the Methods section.
-
For Reviewers
-
Reviewers are required to maintain strict confidentiality. Manuscripts or review content must not be uploaded to generative AI platforms for any purpose, including summarization or grammar correction.
-
Reviews must be written by the invited reviewer and must reflect their own professional judgment. Use of AI for technical evaluation is prohibited.
For Editors
-
Editors may not use AI tools to process manuscripts, write decision letters, or analyze submitted content.
-
All editorial decisions must be based on human expertise and ethical considerations.
-
If an editor suspects inappropriate or undisclosed AI use, the matter will be reviewed in accordance with the journal's ethics policy.
Compliance and Ethics
NJAP follows ethical guidelines set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and ICMJE. Violations of this policy may lead to:
-
Rejection of the manuscript,
-
